WHAT CAN A NATION IN POO-RIL DO?

Acatastrophe of nation and ideology changing proportions has befallen us. The continuation of the alpha species is in peril, due to an invisible enemy among us. A rude incorruptible stranger that has no regard for station, wealth, race or tribalism that is the new normal. (Pick a side – Shout – The winner – The loudest).

Intellect is the ability to listen and reason, the goal being to reach not only a satisfactory compromise for all involved but also for the forward motion that is progress benefiting all as opposed to the notion of divide, hoard and rule mentality of current leaders chosen as the cart drivers of nations.

Donald trump – Boris Johnson – Vladimir Putin, and so the list goes on. Paragons of virtue we can all agree? Benevolent, warm, charming and selfless people…hmmmm. The age of the cartoon strongman is alive and well, benefiting a small coterie while neutering the masses with celebrations of Empire and glory days gone by to chew on like a dried pigs ear, while having little or no knowledge of the history behind the Exceptionalism and Nationalism.

Case in point is the appearance of the Corona virus that has now exposed the obvious inadequacies that for so long have been obvious and denied by the beneficiaries of the current status quo. The result of a clearly unbalanced situation, current economic landscape and unselfish sharing out of Social capital.

The ability to progress up the lard smothered pole of life these days is now displayed unashamedly and now no longer denied. Merit is clearly no longer a determining factor of progress and achievement in our brave new world. It never has been.

“He’s been given the gift of opportunity and knows not what to do with it”. A quote made by a (Guest, Academic , Journalist), about Boris Johnson on a Radio 4 debate show during the election for a new conservative party leader. A race he won for reasons I know little of and care little for. It did however leave a question to ponder. Is this guy the best of the lot among the current crop of leadership contenders, let alone the population this great country can offer?
